The Middle East pumped storage power station achieves the storage target of lower reservoir and tail

Recently, the pumped storage power station in the Middle East has successfully achieved the water storage target of the lower reservoir and tail water system, marking that the construction of the power station has entered the sprint stage of power generation construction.

The Middle East pumped storage power station is the lowest pumped storage power station in the world at present, and it is the first overseas pumped storage power station project contracted by Power China through EPC mode. Since the start of construction, the project team has overcome many difficulties, such as harsh geological conditions, high technical difficulties and the COVID-19 pandemic, and finally achieved the goal of water storage in the lower reservoir and tail water system, making important progress in the project.

After rigorous quality inspection, the initial water filling began on January 1, and the formal filling began on January 3. As the filling valve of the local water company slowly turned, a stream of fresh water gushed from the bottom of the lower reservoir. "Out of the water! Out of the water!" Cheers went up and down, and all the people present were very excited.

The normal water level of the reservoir under the Middle East Pumping Storage power Station is -215.1 meters, and the effective storage capacity is 3.1 million cubic meters. It takes 2 months from the beginning to the completion of the storage. The project has successfully achieved the water storage target of the lower reservoir and tail water system, laying a solid foundation for the back power supply and water commissioning of the unit, and making a big step forward towards the goal of power generation handover within this year.
