The first unit of the largest power project invested by China in Cambodia is put into operation

At 16:00 Beijing time on November 1, the first unit of Huadian Cambodia's Westport Project, the largest power supply project invested by China in Cambodia, successfully passed the full load performance test required by the National Power Company of Cambodia and officially started power generation.

Huadian Westport Project is located in Kampong Som Bay, northeast of Sihanoukville, Cambodia. It is a key project invested and constructed by China Huadian Group Co., Ltd. in countries along the "Belt and Road", and the largest thermal power project invested and constructed by Huadian Group in Cambodia. The project will build two 350,000 kw supercritical coal-fired units, with an 8,000-ton coal berth and a 2,000-ton heavy berth   as supporting facilities.

The Huadian Westport project is an important practice in building a China-Cambodia   community with a shared future. By adopting Chinese standards, technology and equipment, and adhering to the six dimensions of "quality, innovation, green, efficiency, digital and clean", Huadian Westport is making every effort to build a high-quality project.   From the start of construction on August 18, 2020 to the first unit put into operation only 26 months, two months shorter than the PPA agreed period, creating a new record for overseas project construction of Huadian Group.

It is understood that after the completion of the project, Huadian Group will further expand the scale of investment in Cambodia's electric power, and form a good pattern and cluster effect of mutual assistance between water and fire. It is of great significance for improving Cambodia's power supply structure and power infrastructure, and will play a positive role in promoting Cambodia's economic and social development.
