Unit 2 of the Thar Project in Pakistan was put into operation

The No. 2 unit of the 2×660 megawatt Coal project in the first block of Thar Coal Field in Pakistan has been put into operation after successfully completing 168-hour reliability test.

The Thar project in Pakistan is one of the important energy cooperation projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and a key project in implementing the strategic layout of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. After completion, the project will become the main supporting power point of Pakistan's new power grid, which is of great significance to the improvement of Pakistan's energy structure, national energy security and energy development.

This project uses the main equipment such as the ultra-supercritical parameter DC transformer tower boiler, ultra-supercritical condensing gas turbine, water and hydrogen cooled static excitation turbine generator, etc. During the construction period, all the staff of the project department resisted the epidemic, schedule, supply and other pressures, rose to the challenge, and successively realized 11 milestone nodes, such as the hoisting of the boiler slab and beam, the positioning of the generator stator, the boiler water pressure, the main transformer, the boiler cover, the boiler pickling, the power receiving for the plant, the boiler flushing pipe, the steam engine flushing, the grid connection of the unit, and the "168" test, which were officially handed over and put into operation. Won the supervisor, the general contractor and the owner of a high degree of affirmation.

In the next step, the Project Department will pool resources to ensure the full completion of the follow-up work, and make contributions to the high-quality development of PowerChina's overseas business with good performance.
